Encore Orchestra

The Encore Orchestra serves advanced orchestral musicians. As a full symphonic orchestra (90+ strong) Encore performs professional level classic orchestral literature to sold out performances at the beautiful Wentz Concert Hall in downtown Naperville.  Rehearsals take place on Sunday afternoons from 2:30-5:00pm at Naperville Community Concert Center in Downtown Naperville, IL

• Encore Orchestra is open to musicians in 6th grade (advanced level)  - 12th grade
• Level of Strings - Suzuki Book 5+ (or equivalent)
• Winds/Brass/Percussion - Minimum of three years private study and/or recommendation from private teacher

The Philharmonia Orchestra, a full symphonic orchestra of approximately 60+ musicians, performs orchestral repertoire in its original form. Advanced and high-quality arrangements of timeless classics are utilized as well to provide a professional musical experience for musicians and audience alike.   Rehearsals take place on Sunday afternoons from 3:00-5:00pm at Naperville Community Concert Center in Naperville, IL.

• Philharmonia Orchestra is open to musicians 5th grade and up
• Level of Strings - Suzuki Book 3+ (equivalent or recommendation from private teacher)
• Winds/Brass/Percussion - Minimum two years of study and/or recommendation from private teacher

The Flute Choir is comprised of flutists from Encore and Philharmonia orchestras combined with flutists who choose to participate in the NYSO organization solely as a member of the Flute Choir.  An ensemble of 15-20 students, the Flute Choir performs advanced level flute ensemble literature at Wentz Concert Hall alongside the NYSO orchestras. Students have the opportunity to perform on alto flute, bass flute, and piccolo depending on availability of instruments.  Rehearsals take place on Sunday evenings from approximately 5:00-6:00 pm, two or three times a month, at Naperville Community Concert Center in Downtown Naperville, IL. In addition to our regular season concerts, the NYSO Flute Choir has performed at the National Flute Association Convention and the Chicago Flute Club Flute Festival.

• Flute Choir is open to musicians in 6th grade (advanced level)  - 12th grade
• Minimum of three years of study and/or recommendation from private teacher. Advanced-intermediate through advanced students are encouraged to apply.
• Students accepted into the orchestra are automatically accepted into Flute Choir.

The NYSO Brass Choir gives exciting performances of outstanding representative brass repertoire, including music of the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Big Band and New Orleans Brass Band. Brass Choir rehearsals are typically held several Sunday evenings each month from Sept-May, at 5:00-6:00 pm, in the Naperville Community Concert Center in Downtown Naperville, IL. In addition to our regular season concert performances in renowned Wentz Hall, the NYSO BrassEnsemble performs for select civic, community, and educational events.

• Participation is open to trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba players of advanced and strong intermediate training. 
• Brass students accepted into the orchestras are automatically accepted into the Brass Choir. 
• Students not participating in the orchestra may also participate in the NYSO Brass Choir via audition.
